Bleach Plant (continued) |
|
I had six months to change all of this. There was more to it than just getting the control systems working again and then getting all of the controllers back in the Automatic position. I was assigned an instrument technician to work directly with me. Since I worked only days and the plant worked 24/7 and the technicians worked a rotating shift, I was actually assigned three different technicians depending on who was working the day shift this week, but it was always one of the same 3 technicians. |

The second problem was to gain the confidence of the operators of the bleach plant. After all I was a young engineer and not a seasoned bleach plant operator with years of experience. I had to learn how to run a bleach plant from an operator's point of view and then convince them to put each controller back in the Automatic position, one controller at a time as we slowly got each control system back in proper working condition. |
